Luminescence, Lighting for Personal Safety

ID

December 2013
The Mission: Design something that would enable people to feel safer when using the City Bus System.

Luminescence is a lighting structure placed at bus stops in dangerous or low lit areas. The rider has a business card with a sensor inside on their person and a similar sensor is in the lights that is activiated past sunset. When the rider is 200 feet away from the bus stop, the sensors in Luminescence, detecting the personal sensor, will start to glow with a blue light and will become increasingly brighter as the rider approaches. Once the rider leaves, the lights will fade and turn off.
